For Stripe Billing subscription companies

Stop losing revenue to failed first invoices.

Between 8% and 25% of free-trial conversions never turn into collected revenue. TrialGuard detects preventable payment issues before the trial ends and recovers first-invoice failures with Stripe-hosted flows — so growth teams stop leaking trial-to-paid pipeline they already earned.

Where trial revenue leaks

  • SetupIntent misconfigured at signup
  • Card expires before trial ends
  • 3DS / SCA never completed
  • No pre-conversion reminder
  • Single payment method for high-ACV plans
  • First invoice fails and never recovers

How it works

Diagnose, pilot, then automate.

Most billing tools sell you software before proving there's revenue to recover. We do it in the opposite order.

  1. 01

We audit 60–90 days of Stripe data

Anonymized export or read-only connection. We classify every failed first invoice into preventable, recoverable, or genuine non-payment.

  2. 02

You get a quantified leakage report

"You lost approximately $X to first-invoice payment failures; $Y appears addressable; here are the three interventions we'd test first."

  3. 03

    Run a controlled recovery pilot

Pre-conversion reminders, Stripe-hosted payment updates, and fallback methods — with a randomized holdout so results aren't attributed to native Stripe retries.

  4. 04

    Roll out TrialGuard software

SetupIntent hygiene, pre-dunning, expiry detection, fallback collection, and incrementality reporting — all through Stripe-hosted flows. We never store card data.

Our qualification bar

"We only work with you if the audit shows at least $2,000 / month of preventable first-invoice loss — and if our pilot beats your existing Stripe retries by 15% or more."

Companies with fewer than several hundred trial signups per month usually don't have enough data for us to help — and we'll say so on the intro call.

FAQ

Questions we hear.

Isn't this just what Stripe's built-in retries do?+

Stripe's Smart Retries handle failed charges. They don't fix the upstream causes — SetupIntent misconfiguration, expiring cards, incomplete SCA, or the lack of a pre-conversion reminder. Our pilots run against a randomized holdout so recovery attributable to native Stripe retries never gets counted as ours.

Do you store card details?+

No. Every payment collection and update flow uses Stripe-hosted pages. TrialGuard never touches PAN data.

What size company is this for?+

Subscription businesses on Stripe Billing with roughly 300+ free-trial signups per month and an annual contract value where recovering a handful of subscriptions is meaningful. Below that, there isn't enough data.

How fast can you turn around the audit?+

Typically 5 business days from getting an anonymized export or read-only Stripe access.
